THIS WEEK - EXCHANGE STUDENT IMPACT
This week former Youth Exchange student, Shasta Kilminster-Hadley, tells of her experience.
STRAIGHT FROM DISTRICT CONFERENCE - WE WIN AWARD!
There were six Metro members with spouses and friends in Sun Valley, among the 150 or so at this year's District Conference. Many thanks to the Emmett club for a well organized event! (Next year it's Nampa's turn). Sun Valley does a great job with lunches and dinners! Our club continued its tradition of almost winning the travel raffle (the winner was from Pocatello) Our silent auction item brought in over $500.  Our air guitar video was the highlight of the Club Showcase presentations. The Conference featured some great talks by representatives from Rotary International, and a wonderful Cowboy Poet! Of course, one of the highlights of any District Conference is the introduction of all the inbound and outbound Youth Exchange Kids. They are impressive! The official passing of the gavel featured D.G.Terry Jones handing it over to Nampa's Jennifer Deroin. BTW, after July 1st you can order your Rotary license plate!!

Club awards were presented: we won the Rotary Foundation Award (our per capita giving is over $300 - no other club is even close); Twin Falls After Hours won the other two - Membership and Public Image. The Cruise Raffle took in about $64,200 - ten grand more than last year!  Michela sold one of the lesser winners. Finally, not to be forgotten, Scott Swan won a pair of suspenders!

GREENBELT UPDATE
We have received the long-awaited "Donation Agreement" from the City of Boise. Its a pretty straight-forward document which says the city will build it and own it, we'll pay for it, and we'll be responsible for the Little Free Library and the bird boxes, and we'll donate about 250 bricks.  Our Board will consider it at next week's meeting. (All three clubs will sign it)  I'm pretty sure (if I understand the process) that the city will call for bids very soon which will finally tell us how much this project will cost. Then we'll have a short period of time to raise more money if we need it. Bricks are still available!
LOOKING FOR HOST FAMILIES
Rick Holscher reports that our Exchange Student from France has finalized family #1 when he arrives in August. Two more host families will be needed. The family must reside within the Boise High School district.  Contact Rick if you are interested.
CHANGING OF THE GUARD TO BE 6/9
Boise Metro Rotary will be having our Changing of the Guard ceremony at River Pointe Park (behind GC Library) on June 9th, 4-7 PM.  More details to follow, but please mark your calendars for a fun fellowship.  Our Club was instrumental in creating the park, and we recently completed a refurbishment of the park's signage and installed a few new benches.  Between our work and the Bee Pollinator group, its a beautiful setting alongside the river.  We'll recognize the outgoing leadership team, and welcome the start of Jeff Dinwiddie's Presidency and his leadership team.

BE SURE TO RSVP TO THE E-VITE YOU RECEIVED A FEW DAYS AGO!!
ZONE HERE IN SEPTEMBER

This year’s  Zone institute will be held in Boise from September 4-9.  The schedule has been released  and can be found here.  http://www.rizones21-27.org/2018-zone-institute-boise/

You will be learning a lot more about Rotary Zones. Since its happening in our District ( a rare occurrence) we will be asked to volunteer in lots of ways to make it a success. Stay tuned............
