JEM FRIENDS PANEL MONDAY
RAMADAN GROCERY PROJECT
Ramadan is the holy month of the Islamic calendar. Itโ€™s a month-long period of fasting, (3/10 to 4/9) followed by a feast day celebration thatโ€™s also a day of giving gifts and doing acts of kindness. For you Christians, you might think of like Lent, followed by Christmas Day! ๐Ÿ˜Š To acknowledge our local refugee community, many of whom are Muslim, our club will once again support the Ramadan Grocery Project this year. You can help:
  1. Donate food (or money for food) to Cornelia who heads up the annual service project.  You can find her on Venmo and PayPal. Deliver a completed gift bag.
Appropriate shopping items would include:
Reusable shopping bags โ€“ you can sometimes find these for $1
Basmati rice โ€“ India Market on Fairview has 10# bags
Olive oil โ€“ any size, any brand
Whole dates โ€“ These are usually in produce

Update: One last time to deliver groceries or money to Cornelia. Filled bags will be available for pick-up at Rotary on April 2. We have addresses for 23 deliveries.

GOLF UPDATE
MISCELLANY AND MINUTIA
Last week was Spring Break; which would account for a small group......Rotary Minute reminded us of the important work done by RI and the Sheter Box program.......District Celebration discounts up to 3/29.......we have scholarships available for first timers..........our RYE student next year will be a girl from Belgium; her first host family is already lined up.....Adrian Gallo from ICL gave a great presentation last week about the history of climate legislation. We don't realize that the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act goes all the way back to the Nixon (Republican!) administration in the 1970s! Progress is being made, so its not all bad news!
